Commercial Printing Services for Business

commercial printing servicesFinding a good commercial printer for small or large business customers can seem difficult. In today’s business climate, you need a commercial printing company who can “scale” their services based on your needs. You don’t want to be dealing with multiple printers based on the project size or type. In addition, you want a good price and speedy production on your brochures, postcards and booklets.

Many business print purchasers will go to a quick copy shop like OfficeMax, Kinko’s or the UPS Store to get their printing done. This option is great when you only need less than 50 or 100 of something and you need it the same day. The quality will be ok, but the cost will be relativity high, which you really don’t notice when you are printing 50 sheets of 8.5×11 in full color. But WOW…when you start looking at a couple 100 24 page booklets or 1000 or 2500 trifolds the cost can be pretty high. I had a client this week call me for 500 8.5×11 full color trifolds on 100# gloss text; our price was $229.00 (including shipping to Baltimore, MD)….the client told me for the exact same job the local Kinko’s wanted $396.00 + tax.

Developing a working relationship with a full service commercial printer will always be your best option. These printing companies will offer offset printing for longer runs, digital printing for short runs and provide full bindery services. In addition, they will have value added services like graphic design, mailing services, fulfillment and assembly. The best printing companies most likely will not be in your local city or town, but somewhere like Wisconsin. (Actually Wisconsin has more commercial printing companies than any other state in the US.)

The best option is to search on the internet and find 3 or 4 companies that you like. A lot of the better companies you will be found on page 2 or 3 of a search done on Google, Bing or Yahoo. Many times the larger print companies found on page 1 of a search, are spending millions of dollars in marketing themselves, but these companies many times will not provide the personal consulting approach to working with you. Once you identify the best print companies call them and discuss your needs and expectations and see if they match up with your requirements.

You will find commercial printers that offer the best services and great pricing are companies with less than 100 employees and are either privately owned or family owned. These smaller organizations need your business and will always provide a great service and a quality product. You are the life blood of their business.
